APICS strongly supports and stands behind the quality of its instructors. Our goal is to increase and enhance APICS instructors’ skills and provide the resources essential to deliver the highest quality education. We would like to recognize the APICS Instructor Development designees who successfully completed the Instructor Development Program. Master Instructor | An experienced professional in supply chain management with over 20 years working in industry and academia, Brett Mewett has the proven ability to implement his honed skill set in addition to leading others onto the path to success. Mr. Mewett’s experience comes from his work as a Distribution Manager, a Procurement & Materials Strategist, a Materials Manager, an Operations Manager, being the principal of his own companies and his current role as a Business Systems Consultant with Essential Software Solutions Inc (ESS).  Brett is an APICS Certified “CPIM Master Instructor”, holds a designation as a Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM) in addition to certificates in Operations Management (Honors) and Technology in Materials Management (Honors) from BCIT.

Associate Instructor | James Laitinen has over fifteen years of experience working in manufacturing, distribution and retail operations. Projects include the design, strategy, project/change management and installation of enterprise class business systems / management information systems. The focus of his work has been on the improvement of cost or profitability of an operation incorporating competitive strategy, innovation, technology and best practices.In addition, through the APICS body of knowledge he has a passion for supply chain and enterprise resource planning concepts.

 

Jason Deroche, CPIM
Associate Instructor | Jason DeRoche is a senior supply chain/materials professional with 18 years’ experience/education in demand planning, supply chain and inventory control in manufacturing/service operations. Highlights of his career include the development and implementation of programs to foster cost reduction, improve critical lead time, and re-engineer service processes for continuous improvement. He is an active member of the Vancouver Chapter of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and has continued to develop connections within the industry.  Jason is an accomplished Part-Time Studies Instructor at the School of Business at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and has been teaching the CPIM body of knowledge for over 11 years.

 

Mark Bukata, CPIM
Associate Instructor - Mark Bukata has over 20 years’ plus experience in Operations.  He has been a Certified Production Inventory Management(CPIM) professional instructor since 2000.  He has had a lot of diverse experience in many different manufacturing sectors.He has a comprehensive understanding of businesses best practices and their practical application in the business environment.  His achievements in process improvement, lean manufacturing, logistics, order processing and procurement has propelled him to stand out amongst his peers.

  

Phil 1 (100x100)Philip Patton CA (SA), CPIM, CPF, CDDP
Associate Instructor | Philip qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Whinney in South Africa and moved to Canada in 1986 where he helped establish Syspro in North America. In 1998 he joined Manugistics (now part of the JDS Group) where as a Senior Business Consultant (Supply Chain) worked on projects with companies such as Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Del Monte, 20th Century Fox and others. He subsequently joined Sauder Industries in Vancouver where he held the position of CIO for more than 12 years. He is currently President of Aquilon Software Inc. a provider of ERP systems for small to medium size businesses. Philip brings not only his Accounting and Financial experience but has practical experience in Supply Chain Management, Project management, ERP implementations and custom software development.

 

??????????????????????Roberta McPhail, CPIM CIRM CSCP CDDP CDDL PMP
Master Instructor |  Roberta McPhail is currently an independent consultant specializing in Project Management and Supply Chain. In her 25 year career, she has extensive cross functional experience in all levels of Supply chain with a focus on Project Management.  Roberta brings to the table expert knowledge in the areas of:  Project Scheduling, Master scheduling, repetitive/lean scheduling, forecasting, demand mgt, international procurement, DDMRP,  distribution planning and MRP/ERP systems. Roberta has held senior level positions responsible for the planning and execution and distribution processes for a multi-site multinational Steel Company. She has been the team lead for several large system and business reengineering projects.  Roberta is certified CPIM, CIRM, CSCP and PMP.   She currently is teaching CSCP APICS certification classes for the APICS Vancouver chapter via British Columbia Institute of Technology as well as corporate engagements. Roberta’s Presentation style has been described as Dynamic, Fun and Educational.  You will find her sense of humor refreshing and excels at making technical material easy and enjoyable to learn.

 

Associate Instructor | Manly Sitter, CPIM, CSCP, CITP is a very experienced information systems specialist with over 24 years dedication to the airline catering industry in various production, training and information roles in airline, catering and airline software systems solutions.  Manly began his career in airline catering with some of the airline catering global leaders in an information services management role managing operational staff responsible for production planning, equipment/inventory management and operations control working with various information systems.  As well, he spent several years with a major airline managing a software system for airline catering, coordinating services scheduling while managing all facets of the catering services software.  

He later moved on to being a Business Subject Matter Expert working internationally with various airlines throughout the world on the implementation of an airline catering software system on behalf of a leading software supplier with a number of successful implementations throughout the world.  

Currently Manly is a consultant and has worked with various airlines advising and training on the use of software systems and business processes to support their effective and efficient use, and has advised airline catering units on successful use of catering software and as well has worked with several airline software companies and has been involved in the design and development of their software systems. At the moment he is managing the development and marketing of a new software system about to be introduced to airlines. 

Manly is an active member of the Vancouver Chapter of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) and has continued to develop connections within the industry.  Manly has recently joined the ranks of Part-Time Studies Instructor at the School of Business at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and is teaching the CPIM body of knowledge as well as a relief instructor for the CSCP program.  Additionall,y Manly is an instructor with the  FITT-Forum for International Trade Training Program and has taught courses at one of the local colleges in Vancouver.

Curtis Roberts, CFPIM
Lead Instructor | Curtis Roberts has been an Operations Management student, practitioner, and teacher for more than 20 years. He has been teaching APICS CPIM courses for the past 15 years. His experience includes positions such as Industrial Engineering Technologist, Demand Planner, Scheduling Manager, Material Planning Manager, Materials Manager, Operations Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, and Business Systems Consultant in a variety of manufacturing and service industries. He has been with Essential Software Solutions for the past 10 years providing consulting services to more than 60 companies. Mr. Roberts lives in Squamish, BC, the ‘Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada’, where he spends as much time as possible playing outside.

Associate Instructor | Les Frost is an APICS certified instructor of the CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Control) program. Les is a full time instructor and continuously gaining knowledge while developing new course materials. He has been teaching the CPIM modules locally and a variety of other subjects around the world over many years. He brings a global perspective into the classroom and is able to guide and motivate students by sharing the knowledge he has gained over his long career. Les is a customer facing employee with Alpha Technologies Ltd. and needs to stay ahead of the technologies and ever changing market demands. He is currently employed as the Lead Instructor at Alpha Technologies and also continues to do internal training as he has done during his almost 12 years with Alpha. He has also held positions in the materials management areas of Alpha and other lower mainland employers.

  

Denise Becker (100x100)Denise Becker, CPIM
Associate Instructor | Denise Becker is an APICS certified instructor of the CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Control). Denise has a passion for continual learning, driving improvements throughout an organization, and providing instruction and guidance to others. Denise has instructed all of the 5 CPIM modules and has provided over 250 hours in CPIM instruction. Denise is a Lean Sensei International trained Blackbelt in Continuous Improvement (C.I.) and plays a significant role in the education team of Alpha’s C.I. group. She is currently employed as the Manager of Change Management at Alpha Technologies and has held this role since October of 2012. Before that, she was the Master Scheduler/Demand Planner at Alpha since March of 1994. Denise is a long term employee of Alpha Technologies who recently completed 25 years at Alpha.
