Abrar Khan, CPIM, CSCP, MBA  -  President

Abrar has over 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain covering purchasing, inventory management, warehousing and demand management. He currently works at TELUS analyzing processes and driving both operational and strategic priorities towards best-in-class supply chain practices. Abrar has been an APICS member since 2010 and actively volunteered with the APICS Vancouver. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the Sauder School of Business (UBC).


Phil Patton, CA(SA), CPIM, CDDP, IBF - Past President


Philip qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Whinney in South Africa and moved to Canada in 1986 where he helped establish Syspro in North America. In 1998 he joined Manugistics (now part of the JDS Group) whereas a Senior Business Consultant (Supply Chain) worked on projects with companies such as Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Del Monte, 20th Century Fox, and others. He subsequently joined Sauder Industries in Vancouver where he held the position of CIO for more than 12 years. He is currently President of Aquilon Software Inc. a provider of ERP systems for small to medium size businesses.


Roberta McPhail, CPIM, CIRM, CSCP, DDPP, DDLP, CLTD, – Director of Corporate Training - Business Development

Roberta McPhail is currently an independent consultant and trainer specializing in Supply Chain and Project Management.  In her 25 plus year career, she has extensive cross-functional experience in all levels of Supply chain with a focus on continuous improvement.  Roberta brings to the table expert knowledge in the areas of:  Project Scheduling, Master scheduling, repetitive/lean scheduling, forecasting, demand mgt, international procurement, distribution planning, and MRP/ERP systems. Roberta has held senior-level positions responsible for the planning, execution and distribution processes for multi-site multinational manufacturing companies.

Roberta is certified CPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CDDL, CDDP, CLTD and PMP.   She currently is teaching APICS certification classes as a Master Instructor for the APICS Vancouver chapter via British Columbia Institute of Technology.   She is the 1st in North America to become both CDDP and CDDL instructor endorsed and is also a Fresh Connections Simulation trainer. 


Brett Mewett, CFPIM - VP of Education
Brett Mewett has been teaching the APICS CPIM Body of Knowledge at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) for more than thirteen years. He has over 25 years of practical experience in a variety of industries in a number of capacities, including Inventory Coordinator, Distribution Manager, Procurement & Materials Strategist, Materials Manager, and Operations Manager. He has presented a number of times at Professional Development Meetings (PDM’s) for both the Vancouver and Fraser Valley chapters of APICS, as well as at CMA PDM’s and at Cargo Logistics 2014. As well as teaching APICS program material at BCIT, for the past 10 years, he has been part of Essential Software Solutions’ ERP implementation team. Brett was featured in an advertisement presented jointly by BCIT and APICS Vancouver.  The ad on page 15 of "Right Course 2015" is published by “Business in Vancouver" The May/June 2016 issue of APICS magazine printed an article written by Brett.  The article entitled “Lofty Ambitions” links Brett’s experience in the field and his teaching at BCIT.  APICS magazine is the leading publication providing relevant and useful information to supply chain professionals worldwide.


Arda Akoglu, CSCP - Exec VP

Arda is an Operations Management professional who has managed all areas of his field: from logistics and supply chain to manufacturing, quality, and R&D.  He has been part of many different industries that range from: automotive and aerospace, to finance and consumer packaged goods.  Arda holds degrees in: Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in addition to his MBA; therefore, bringing a mix of high-level education and an abundance of real-world experience to his organization.   He is currently the Principal at Verbum Consulting Inc., an operations management and business consulting firm.   


Quang Tran, CSCP - VP of Membership

A well experienced Supply Chain Professional with demonstrated success in Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management. Numerous successes leading projects in inventory cost reductions, Vendor Management and strengthening critical supply chain linkages.  Over 11 years of progressive supply chain experience from fortune 500 global company to local private start-up companies to public sector corporation.  Experience include logistic, CRM, 3PL management, planning, buying, strategic and public sector procurement, vendor management, and contract lifecycle management.
Currently working for a provincial Crown Corporation, driving both tactical and strategic goals and objectives to enhance Procurement and Contract/Vendor Management activities.

Steve Bassaw, CSCP - VP of Marketing

For over 20 years Steve Bassaw has been passionate about both supply chain and using ERP software to improve business processes. In supply chain he has experience in Planning, Scheduling, and Purchasing and has the APICS CSCP designation (Certified Supply Chain Professional). At an ERP company (SYSPRO) he has held diverse roles such as Product Management, Solution Architect, Consulting, and Support. Steve is also Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Business/IT program at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology).


Jim Nguyen - Director of Membership

Jim has more than 4 years as a supply chain professional experienced as a both Merchandise Control Clerk and Purchasing Agent. He holds a Bachelor Degree in International Business Administration and currently got his Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in International Supply Chain Management from Douglas College. Jim has been an APICs member since 2018 as a student member from Douglas College and helped the school to open its APICs student chapter.

Manly Sitter CPIM, CSCP – Director of Instructor Development

Manly Sitter is an experienced information systems specialist with over 26 years of dedication to the airline catering industry serving in various production planning, training, and information systems roles implementing, training and using some of the leading airline catering software systems solutions.  Manly is a consultant and Managing Director with C-link Airline Solutions offering services related to supply chain solutions and information systems implementation and management. Manly is an active new member of the Vancouver APICS Chapter Board with a focus in the educational area working with other instructors and coordinating courses with educational facilities.  He has been enjoying instructing CPIM courses at BCIT these past 4 years.
