Abrar Khan, CPIM, CSCP, MBA  -  President

Abrar has 10 years of experience in supply chain covering purchasing, inventory management, warehousing and demand management. He currently works at the City of Vancouver within the Supply chain management team and is also a part-time instructor at BCIT teaching APICS courses. Abrar has been an APICS member since 2010 and actively volunteered with APICS Vancouver since 2015. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the Sauder School of Business (UBC).

Arda Akoglu, CSCP, MBA- Exec VP

Arda is an Operations Management professional who has managed all areas of his field: from logistics and supply chain to manufacturing, quality, and R&D.  He has been part of many different industries that range from: automotive and aerospace, to finance and consumer packaged goods.  Arda holds degrees in: Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in addition to his MBA; therefore, bringing a mix of high-level education and an abundance of real-world experience to his organization.   He is currently the Principal at Verbum Consulting Inc., an operations management and business consulting firm.   

Jason DeRoche. CPIM, CSCP - Director of Education

Jason DeRoche is an accomplished operations and supply chain professional and has been teaching the CPIM Body of Knowledge at BCIT, for over 17 years. He is a planning leader, experienced with multiple business systems (ERP/MRP), Six Sigma and Lean savvy, and well versed in all aspects of Operations and Materials Management. Jason has worked in a variety of different industries, and multiple high tech companies, and has years of hands-on expertise as a Master Scheduler, Production Planner, Supply Chain Planner, S&OP Chairman, Service Coordinator, and is currently the Business Process Design Specialist at WhiteWater West Industries. Jason is also a former Education Assistant for the Director of Education of the Vancouver APICS Chapter.

Manly Sitter CPIM, CSCP – VP of Education

Manly Sitter is an experienced information systems specialist with over 26 years of dedication to the airline catering industry serving in various production planning, training, and information systems roles implementing, training and using some of the leading airline catering software systems solutions.  Manly is a consultant and Managing Director with C-link Airline Solutions offering services related to supply chain solutions and information systems implementation and management. Manly is an active new member of the Vancouver APICS Chapter Board with a focus in the educational area working with other instructors and coordinating courses with educational facilities.  He has been enjoying instructing CPIM courses at BCIT these past 4 years.

 James Laitinen - CSCP - VP of Marketing

James Laitinen, a former chapter director, and past president of the Vancouver APICS Chapter, CSCP instructor in development and a passionate advocate for supply chain topics working with the highest levels of government on supply chain topics. A former director with the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Association managed a $5M dollar program known as the Canada Job Grant bringing the program from pilot to official program with the BC provincial, and Canadian Federal governments to support BC companies with training and skills development. His area of focus professionally is as a supply chain consultant helping large enterprise organizations with complex projects such as supply chain optimization, process improvements, and implementation of new technologies.  

 Akbar Zuberi - CPIM, MBA -VP of Strategic Relations

Akbar is an experienced senior executive who has been helping organizations improve supply chain efficiencies, through inventory optimization and implementation of operational best practices.  Akbar has successfully implemented Integrated Business Planning processes driving improved collaboration amongst all stakeholders within the Supply Chain and beyond.

Akbar holds an MBA from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and is a certified APICS CPIM Instructor.

Loretta Lau - CSCP, PMP - Secretary

Loretta Lau is a dynamic supply chain professional with experience in management consulting, strategic planning, category management, vendor and contract management, project management and client service-oriented roles in various public and private sector environments. As part of her current role in a shared services organization for the BC higher education sector, she engages with diverse organizations in the sector and vendors in the marketplace to leverage the power of collaboration to identify and collaborate on common and value-generating procurement opportunities as a collective buying group to maximize efficiencies, reduce costs, improve service, and drive sustainable outcomes. As a collaborative leader and a Relator as one of her key strengths, she looks forward to expanding the APICS Vancouver chapter’s strategic partnerships with other professional organizations in the community to drive mutual value to members.  Loretta also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from University of British Columbia and is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Rachel Chan - CPIM, Bsc, GDBA, CDDP - Director of Programs

Rachel has more than 4 years of experience in production planning and inventory management, primarily in the biotechnology industry.  She currently works at STEMCELL Technologies Inc. as a Senior Planner and is certified in demand driven MRP.  Rachel is passionate about supply chain management and is an active participant of APICS events.

Roberta McPhail - CPIM, CIRM, CSCP, DDPP, DDLP, CLTD - Administration - Director of Biz Development

Roberta McPhail is currently an independent consultant and trainer specializing in Supply Chain. 

In her 30 plus year career, she has extensive cross functional experience in all levels of Supply chain with a focus on continuous improvement.  Roberta brings to the table expert knowledge in the areas of:  Project Scheduling, Master scheduling, repetitive/lean scheduling, forecasting, demand mgt, international procurement, distribution planning and MRPERP systems. Roberta has held senior level positions responsible for the planning, execution and distribution processes for multi-site multinational manufacturing companies.  This would include senior planning responsibilities for both China and Indian Operations.   

Roberta is certified CPIM, CIRM, CSCP,  DDPP, DDLP and CLTD.   She currently is teaching APICS certification classes as a Master Instructor for the APICS Vancouver chapter via British Columbia Institute of Technology and Camosun College as well as corporate engagements thru out Western Canada.   She is the 1st instructor in Canada to become both DDPP and DDLP instructor endorsed from the Demand Driven Institute and is also a Fresh Connections Simulation trainer.    She is an associate Consultant with CMG Group (a leading DDMRP consulting firm) supporting DDMRP implementations.
